The SharePoint team has just announced that they are working on a tool which will help SharePoint developers to deal with disposable objects in custom code. SPDisposeCheck – as the tool is called, will check custom compiled assemblies and validate them against the Microsoft guidance.
I definitely like the idea of having an extra piece of software just to be sure that I do everything okay. It would be cool if it would end up as a kind of intellisense in Visual Studio so that we can get the feedback as-we-type but SPDisposeCheck as a standalone console application is very welcome as well. As stated in the announcement, SPDisposeCheck will be released during the coming North American Winter.
