Building solutions with Office Graph – session change at SharePoint Connect Amsterdam
Office Delve and Office Graph
Recently Microsoft started releasing Office Delve – a user experience available in Office 365 which surfaces personalized content to you from across Office 365. Office Delve is powered by Office Graph which allows Delve to show you information based on what you’re working on and what’s trending around you. Whereas Office Delve is a solution that just works and currently cannot be customized, Office Graph is an API that offers great developer capabilities for building custom solutions.
Building solutions with Office Graph
With the release of Office Delve and Office Graph I decided to change my session at SharePoint Connect Amsterdam and show you how you can get even more out of your Office 365 subscription by leveraging the capabilities of Office Graph for building powerful productivity solutions.
Office Delve and Office Graph are new and if you’re using Office 365 you can get them by enabling the First release option in your tenant. Even then not everyone will get it at once. To ensure that everyone starts from the same point, I will start my presentation with a short overview of what Office Delve is. From there we will move directly to discussing Office Graph: how it works and how it’s used by Office Delve. Finally I will show you some sample scenarios of how you can leverage Office Graph for building productivity solutions for your organization and your customers. It will be a Level-300 session so expect to see some code backing up my presentation.
What about building portals and public-facing websites with the Single Page Application approach?
As a part of preparations for the session I would be presenting at SharePoint Connect initially, I built http://spa.mavention.com – an equivalent of our public-facing website but then built as a SPA with AngularJS and RequireJS. During the presentation I wanted to take you step-by-step through the process of designing and building such a portal. The website is still there and you can explore all of its code on-line. In the upcoming weeks I will write a series of articles providing the explanation that I wanted to cover in my session, to give you a better understanding of the code and how all the pieces make up a working solution.

From what I’ve seen of Office Graph so far it offers great capabilities once you start thinking in a way that’s aligned with how it works. As Office Graph is a little different than everything else we’ve been working with in Office 365 so far, it might not happen immediately, but I hope that my session will give you some real-life scenarios that you could leverage right away but also inspiration to think of scenarios that apply to your situation.
