WCM tip #32: Managed Navigation automatically trims draft pages

When working with Managed Navigation, menu items linked to pages that haven’t been published yet, are automatically hidden from anonymous visitors.

One of the new capabilities of SharePoint 2013 is Managed Navigation. Using Managed Metadata you can model the navigation structure of your website, decoupling the navigation from the physical structure of your website. This allows you to provide both your visitors and content managers with logical structure even if both structures are different.

When modeling the navigation of your website using Managed Metadata you can choose if you want the particular Navigation Term to be a Term-Driven Page with Friendly URL or a Simple Link. As long as the Term-Drive Page with Friendly URL option is selected, SharePoint 2013 will automatically hide Navigation Terms linked to pages that haven’t been published yet from anonymous users.
